Holly Peterson is an active performer and teacher in the greater Boulder area.
Holly is a passionate violinist and dedicated educator with over a decade of teaching experience. She began playing the violin at age five and went on to earn dual degrees in Violin Performance and Music Education with Honors from the University of Colorado Boulder, studying under renowned Colorado violinists Margaret Gutierrez and Claude Sim.
An active performer, Holly currently serves as Associate Principal Second Violin with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra and regularly performs with the Boulder Symphony. She has also served as Concert Master for the Boulder Opera Company. Career highlights include master classes at the ASTA National Conference with Mimi Zweig and performances at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy.
With a background in Classical, Baroque Early Music Performance, and Irish Fiddle, Holly’s teaching is inspired by a variety of musical traditions. She uses the Suzuki method books alongside other resources to guide students, emphasizing flexibility in her approach to create well-rounded musicians. Her lessons focus on not only technical development but also music theory, fluency in reading music, and a deep appreciation for musical expression. Holly’s goal is to inspire students to develop strong technical skills, a deep understanding of music, and a lasting joy for playing the violin.
